About this Exhibition: Natalie Bateman is a Walbanja-Yuin woman with a deep connection of love for her family and the beautiful land that we live on. Knowing that her ancestors walked on this land before her provides empowerment. Being on country, surrounded by the sounds and sights of nature, Natalie sees so much and her mind is inspired. Natalie is always looking for a way to release her creativity.

The use of triangles in Natalie’s work is a representation of who she is, her DNA, the connection to the land, the song lines. It brings her joy to hear people see these designs move and shift, as the flow between land, body, and culture is what she is seeking.

"Living on the land our ancestors once roamed is our homeland. It is here on Yuin country, where the land nourishes our body, mind and soul. It is here on our homeland, where we are nurtured, told stories and we are recharged. It is a sense of belonging. The connection and smells are what take us back to the womb of who we are. A place of teaching and understanding. Listening to the land and surroundings. Feeling the presence of our ancestors guiding us. The land, of natural elements and the animals, all communicating with us as we communicate back. We are strongly connected to our homeland, our land gives us strength and pride. Appreciate what we have and share. The beauty, sounds and colours of mother nature and the preservation of culture" Natalie Bateman.

Please join us for drinks and nibbles at the opening night, Friday 16 June 2023, 5:30-7:30pm.
